TITLE: Modernizing HPC Model Interaction through Web Interfaces

ABSTRACT: This presentation will discuss current model interaction practices and how the use of prevalent modern technologies can make said practices more user-friendly, consistent, and reusable. Current model interaction requires extensive knowledge of the underlying model in order to use it. Configuration, submission, and post-processing is a laborious process that is often inconsistent and prone to error. Our modern browser-centric approach uses a modular framework to dynamically generate sleek, user-friendly interfaces. These interfaces are model-agnostic - they can be easily reused for various models. Some features of this interface
design include:
- Use of a central database that enables user collaboration for model configuration and pre-processing.
- Built-in validation and automatic formatting for user inputs to ensure consistency with model setup requirements.
- Baked-in post-processing and data visualization for simulation results.
It is our hope that future model development will include modern interfaces that make model use more accessible for users by lowering the barrier to entry.
