TITLE: Advancing the Nation's Infrastructure: ERDC's Role

PRESENTER: Jeb Tingle, research civil engineer, Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory

ABSTRACT: How do we improve America's infrastructure? Annual reviews of the nation's infrastructure describe a deteriorating network with restoration requirements far outpacing agency budgets.  This session will outline the role that research and development plays in maximizing the impact of infrastructure projects with limited budgets by:
1. reviewing why "business as usual" is unsustainable,
2. describing the role that research can play in improving infrastructure solutions,
3. demonstrating the value of innovation in infrastructure projects, and
4. outlining a roadmap for implementing new technologies to improve project efficiency.
