Engineer Research and Development Center’s Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory Polar Researcher Dr. Jackie Richter-Menge recently hosted Anja Rösel a sea ice physics post-doctoral researcher from the Norwegian Polar Institute, Tromsø, Norway.
NPI is Norway’s central governmental institution for scientific research, mapping and environmental monitoring in the Arctic and the Antarctic. The Institute advises Norwegian authorities on matters concerning polar environmental management and is the official environmental management body for Norwegian activities in Antarctica.
While at CRREL, Rösel collaborated with CRREL sea ice researchers on the analysis of in situ and airborne snow depth and sea ice thickness data to support the development of remote sea ice thickness observations.
Collaboration with international institutions provides higher impact publications, knowledge of what others are doing, networking for future employees and potential sources of funding.
