The July 24-25 visit, led by Dr. Jim O’Daniel, was held to plan a collaborative effort investigating the use of Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) in Protective Structures.

This effort will involve material characterization and extensive testing of UHPC structural components subjected to blast, impact and penetration loads, as well as numerical simulations of these events.

ERDC personnel from the Concrete Material Branch, the Impact and Explosion Effects Branch, the Geosciences and Structures Research Group and the Structural Mechanics Branch all participated in the meeting.

The visitors also toured the center facilities to include the Blast Load Simulator, Information Technology Laboratory (ITL), the Concrete and Materials Lab, and the Survivability Trail.
