CRREL has New Earth Sciences and Engineering Technical Director

HANOVER, N.H. — Kevin Knuuti has been selected as ERDC-CRREL's newest technical director for Earth Sciences and Engineering.

He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, earned a master's from the University of California at Berkeley, and will be awarded his doctorate from Colorado State University this year.

In the Army, Knuuti served as an active duty engineer officer in various positions to include engineer company commander, infantry brigade engineer and special operations command engineer adviser, having been stationed in Korea, Panama and the United States. He continues to serve in the Army Reserve.

After finishing his active duty, he worked five years as a civilian for a mid-sized environmental and civil engineering consulting firm in Cumberland, Maine, performing work across the country.

In 1999, he returned to the Army and the Corps' San Francisco District, serving as a senior hydraulic engineer and later as chief of Water Resources and Coastal Engineering. From 2002 to 2007, Knuuti worked as a research hydraulic engineer in ERDC CHL, and from 2007 to 2010 he served as chief engineer of the Sacramento District.

Knuuti is a licensed professional engineer and has been recognized as a Diplomate, Coastal Engineering.
