ERDC researchers awarded at Coastal Mapping and Charting Workshop

Baltimore, Md. — Two ERDC researchers were recently presented awards at the Joint Airborne LiDAR Bathymetry Technical Center of Expertise's (JALBTCX) 12th Annual Airborne Coastal Mapping and Charting Workshop in Baltimore, Md. The two-day workshop included international participants from government, academia and industry.

The international workshop was attended by more than 90 participants from government, academia, and industry and addressed a wide variety of topics on coastal mapping and charting.

The workshop included JALBTCX's third annual awards banquet recognizing leaders in the field of airborne coastal mapping and charting and featured keynote speaker Robert S. Winokur, deputy and technical director, Office of the Oceanographer of the Navy, Chief of Naval Operations.

ERDC Environmental Laboratory's Molly Reif along with Chris Macon with Mobile District were presented with the Sebastian Sizgoric Technical Achievement Award, an award that recognizes a major scientific achievement in airborne lidar bathymetry and coastal mapping and charting. ERDC Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory's Jennifer Wozencraft along with Michael Starek, North Carolina State, and Kris Srestha, University of Florida, were awarded the Lidar Lights and Mirrors Award.
