CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - ERDC Construction Engineering Research Laboratory's (CERL) research and development in Building Information Model (BIM) was cited by the president of the National Institute of Building Sciences. In addition, Dr. Bill East was recognized for his global vision and leadership.

CERL's research and development in BIM, including development of open source data formats for life-cycle information exchange, was recently cited by Henry L. Green, Honorary, American Institute of Architects.

In the Fall 2011 issue of the Journal of Building Information Modeling, East was recognized for his global vision and leadership in demonstrating and guiding collaborative strategies executed on an international level.

BIM is now playing a much bigger role than a design, construction, and visualization tool. This work is a result of the Life Cycle Modeling for Mission Ready and Sustainable Buildings program.
