LORMAN, Miss.--ERDC Director Dr. Jeffery Holland recently received the Presidential Citation for Excellence from Alcorn State University (ASU) at the university’s Founders Day Celebration  in Lorman, Miss.

Founded in 1871, ASU is the nation's first state-supported institution for the higher education of African Americans.  The award celebrates the accomplishment of individuals whose actions enrich ASU’s reputation and stature.

The Presidential Citation of Excellence is reserved for alumni and friends whose dedication and commitment impact ASU’s institutional history.  Recipients must combine knowledge and character in the execution of their profession, life living, and community engagement.

ERDC and ASU have a long history of collaboration, including an official “Partnership in Education” that was originally signed in 2006.

In April 2012, Holland met with ASU President Dr. M. Christopher Brown II to reaffirm the relationship between ERDC and ASU.  ERDC Environmental Laboratory Director Dr. Beth Fleming serves as the partnership manager for ERDC and is aided by Pat Sullivan, ERDC Executive Office.
