HANOVER, N.H. — ERDC Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL) recently hosted a visit of Blue Mountain School's 7th grade science class.

Through a partnership in education agreement, a CRREL research civil engineer was able to sponsor this on-site class.

The students were provided four brief presentations and discussions with researchers during their visit, including threatened and endangered plant species work in the greenhouse, projects in the Ice Engineering Facility, Geographic Information Systems, and climate change.

This is the 17th year that 7th and 8th graders from Blue Mountain School have partnered with CRREL to provide a unique opportunity to expose the students to science and engineering. Prior to each lab visit, the engineer visits the school and provides an overview of the research activity and assists the students in conducting an ice lab.

Also visiting the classroom soon will be two polar scientists, who will contribute to the science curriculum through a research program sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the "Adopt A Buoy" program.
