Description
The US Army Corps of Engineers’ Materials Testing Center (MTC) is committed to providing quality materials testing in a timely fashion at a reasonable cost. In addition, MTC supplies inspection services of commercial laboratories for quality assurance and quality control testing. Located at the ERDC Waterways Experiment Station site in Vicksburg, MS, the MTC is the only agency authorized to validate commercial laboratories to work for the Corps of Engineers.
Capabilities
The Center’s state-of-the-art and, in many cases, unique material testing equipment provides quality results. The MTC staff offer expertise in conducting material testing in the areas of geotechnical, concrete, materials, structural engineering, and airfields and pavements. The MTC has both the capabilities and personnel to provide laboratory inspections in accordance with American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards.
Supporting Technology
A centralized testing facility provides comprehensive capabilities, including small-scale to large-scale, specialized, conventional, and nondestructive testing of materials.
Benefits
The MTC’s testing and inspection services provide efficient, cost-effective support to the Corps’ material testing needs. MTC testing complies with current Corps and ASTM Standards, and the inspection services can include both on-site and desk audit inspections. In addition, a comprehensive, timely report is furnished for every laboratory inspection.
